A personal story about self-sufficiency and connection with nature

At Eco Logé Höfke, we believe in the power of sustainable living. Our permaculture garden is not only a source of food but also a place where we reconnect with nature. Surrounded by the beauty of the countryside, we are working step by step towards our ideal of how we want to live.

After years of living in a fast-paced society, Rob concluded that the satisfaction that came from hard work was scarce. You work year-round, take your kids to school, and then flop exhausted on the couch in front of the TV in the evening. This is a bit of an oversimplification, but according to Rob, that's not how life is meant to be. Does that good career truly fulfill you, or would you rather be more in nature, surrounded by your loved ones, growing your own food together?

For Rob, this question was the driving force behind where we stand today. We want to get closer to the essence of life and further away from the fast-paced consumer society. We want to see our children grow up, grow our own food, and make meaningful connections with others. And so, with this question, the seed was planted for a life according to our ideal.

We often use the term "slow living" jokingly to describe our pursuit. It describes what we're aiming for, but "slow living" isn't always part of it. It's sometimes hard work, but it fulfills us.

Little by little, we're building a life that provides us with sufficient food without depleting the earth; in fact, through this specific method of farming, we even improve the soil.

Besides our mission to live self-sufficiently, we also value connection with others. We want to share the knowledge we've acquired, as well as the vegetables from our garden. Eco Logé Höfke should be a place where people enjoy coming, where you can learn about nature, and where we enjoy life together. Sitting together around a campfire, listening to music, having pleasant conversations, and looking back, tired but satisfied, on another successful day. That's what we believe in and what we're committed to.

By offering overnight stays, you can experience life in nature, and we hope our guests will be inspired to take small steps toward a (more) self-sufficient life. We strive to equip every guest with as much knowledge as possible to encourage more conscious choices.
